How long does it take? It varies, depending on the amount of text and the service you require. Some jobs can be done same-day, or by the following morning. You will receive an email within four hours of submission that advises you of turnaround time or, if you've given us a deadline, confirmation that we can meet that date.
What formats do you work with? Ideally the document should be provided in electronic format, using a word processing package such as Word, or a PDF. If it is only available in hard copy, that is fine, Ultimate Proof will mark up the proofs. If the text needs to be typed up before proofreading Ultimate Proof can also do this. Each job is unique so contact Ultimate Proof in the first instance to discuss the best way to proceed.
What subjects do you specialise in? Ultimate Proof is an all-service proofreading and copy-editing company and uses a select network of qualified and experienced proofreaders who each cover a wide subject area (e.g. finance, government, ESL, marketing). In many cases clients simply need a fresh pair of eyes to check text for readability and structure. This is particularly important with the ever-widening use of the Internet and ensures that the text will be easily understood by a wider audience.
If you require someone who is knowledgeable in your area of work, Ultimate Proof will assign you an expert proofreader. Please send an email with basic details for a fast and helpful response. In the unlikely event that Ultimate Proof cannot help you, we will quickly give you details of someone who can!
What about confidentiality? Client confidentiality is protected at all times, right from the initial enquiry. Often clients choose to send over a sample of the work to enable an accurate quotation to be given. Any work sent to Ultimate Proof is protected and will not be shared with any third party without express permission. All laser print-outs of your text are cross-cut shredded on completion of the job. We are happy to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements where necessary.
Do you have terms and conditions? Yes, our standard terms will be sent to you with your quotation. Each new client needs to confirm that they have read and understood the terms before work can start. If you have any questions about our standard terms please don't hesitate to ask.
Can you translate documents from other languages? Ultimate Proof uses a reliable source of translators to sub-contract any translating work. Ultimate Proof will then check the finished piece to ensure that it makes sense in English rather than being simply a literal translation. This structure saves both time and money spent on coordinating and paying two separate companies and, as Ultimate Proof will manage the text through the entire process, clients need only see the final product rather than wading through pages of drafts.
Do you provide a copywriting service? Yes, Ultimate Proof can help you with copywriting either in-house or out-sourced depending on your specific requirements. We've written children's books, adult humour books, packaging, after dinner games, websites, brochures, sales letters, leaflets, the list is endless. As with the translation service, Ultimate Proof also uses a small but excellent team of writers who all have vast experience of writing within both the public and private sectors.
Note: we do not provide a plagiarism rewriting service for student work. Our editing service for student text is purely to improve the structure and language used, and will retain the original meaning.
Can we meet up to discuss the project? Yes, no problem. The initial meeting would be free but subsequent meetings will be charged as part of the job on an hourly rate. Where clients are based outside of Gloucestershire the cost of travel may also be charged. In most cases the work can be briefed and agreed by telephone and email. You can also arrange a free video call via Skype in place of a face-to-face meeting.
OK, I’m impressed, but are you actually any good? Ultimate Proof prides itself on its professional approach and quality of work; there is no point being a fantastic proofreader if you don’t know how to interact with clients or understand the pressures they are under. The feedback from clients and the repeat business speaks for itself and references will always be provided in hard copy if requested. Please see the Feedback page for more information.
