Your communications, in safe hands.
Some organisations have a communications team but not enough capacity. Others have brilliant people who know their mission inside out but aren't sure how to turn that into a well-managed, high-quality publication. Many are somewhere in between.
If you need someone experienced to step in, take ownership and get things done – calmly, reliably and to a high standard – that's what I do.

Who this is for.
This service is for purpose-driven organisations – charities, faith bodies, conservation and heritage organisations, schools and membership bodies – that need flexible, senior-level communications and publications support without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.
You might need me if:
- You have a publication to deliver but no one to manage the process end to end
- Your communications team is stretched and needs an extra pair of experienced hands
- You're producing an annual report, newsletter series or campaign and need someone to coordinate contributors and keep everything on track
- You want part-time or ongoing contract support from someone who understands your world
What I can do for you.
I bring 25 years of communications and publishing experience to every project. I'm not a junior coordinator – I've managed complex government publications at
Natural England, run editorial teams, produced diocesan communications for the
Church of England, and coordinated publications for organisations ranging from national charities to independent schools.
Here's what working with me can look like:
Publications project management
– taking a publication from brief to delivery. Planning timelines, coordinating contributors, managing design and print relationships, maintaining quality throughout.
Editorial coordination – keeping multi-contributor publications on track. Managing schedules, chasing copy, ensuring consistency and preparing content for design or sign-off.
Communications support – helping your team produce newsletters, reports, bulletins and campaign materials to a consistent, high standard. Acting as an editorial anchor when capacity is stretched.
Part-time or contract engagement – working alongside your team on a regular basis, getting to know your organisation and becoming a reliable, trusted part of how you communicate.
"Kelly managed all aspects of the production process extremely well, delivering well-conceived, timely and attractive publications, often to short deadlines and always against a background of competing priorities."
– Lisa, Publications Manager, Natural England
My background in purpose-driven organisations.
I've spent much of my career working with and for organisations that exist to make a difference. I was
Publications Officer at Natural England for nine years, managing countryside and conservation communications for a national government body. I worked as
Communications Officer for the Diocese of Gloucester, producing publications that reached congregations and clergy across the county. My freelance clients include
Tearfund,
Stewardship
and
Christians Against Poverty.
I'm a practising Christian and feel a particular connection to faith, conservation, heritage and education – not because it sounds good on a page, but because these are the sectors where I do my best work.

I'm happy to share my CV on request.
How we might work together.
Every engagement is different, and I'm flexible about how we structure things. Some clients bring me in for a single project with a clear brief and deadline. Others want ongoing support – a half or full day a week, remote or hybrid, becoming a familiar and reliable part of their communications rhythm.
I'm open to:
- One-off publication projects
- Fixed-term contracts (part-time or full-time)
- Ongoing retainer arrangements
- Employed part-time roles within the right organisation
If you're not sure what shape the support should take, that's fine – I'm happy to have an initial conversation and help you work it out.
Let's talk about what you need?
If you're working in a purpose-driven organisation and need calm, experienced publications or communications support, I'd love to hear from you.
